Possible 2013 UEFA “El Clasico” final

While the semifinal draws have separated lifetime rivals Barcelona and Real Madrid, this does not stop the fans from dreaming about an ultimate “El Clasico”. This is not an impossible dream. Considering the fact that Los Blancos are facing the underdogs from Borussia Dortmund, an all Spanish Champions League final is a likely scenario. However a lot of surprises can still happen. All four teams are veterans in European competition and together they round up no less than 18 European Titles. Real is responsible for half of those titles, Barcelona and Bayern each own four while Borussia can only brag with one tittle.

After a fierce battle with Juventus, Bayern Munchen is heading for a rough battle. Barcelona is a tough club and with the help of the Footballer of the Year they might give the Germans more than they can chew. Lionel Messi will be the key player that will influence the result of the game. While Bayern has a very good defense and a powerful attack they are missing an unbeatable player. The other semifinal will be disputed between Real Madrid and Dortmund. The latest confrontations between these two teams were quite unpleasant for Los Blancos. However history is unlikely to repeat itself. If Borusia managed to surprise Real with a powerful attack in the group stages, the Spanish will not underestimate the Germans in the upcoming semifinals.

The 2013 Copa del Ray was yet another demonstration of El Clasico’s fascination. It can also serve as a preview of a possible Real- Barcelona UEFA final. During the latest confrontation between the lifetime rival teams has revealed some of the advantages of each team as well as their weak points. It was very disappointing for Barcelona’s fans to witness a very weak attack that barely troubled the Real players. Guided by the brilliant Jose Mourinho, real managed to win the El Clasico, leaving behind a sorrowful Barcelona. It would seem that the last 5 years have given real an opportunity to catch up with Barcelona. While El Blancos have considerably improved their style, the Catalans have dealt with numerous disastrous transfers. While some may argue that not only did the Catalans mot progressed but they actually regressed, an all Spanish UEFA final might be a perfect opportunity for these two teams to settle their deals. Although Barcelona is not in the best shape, we are still talking about one of the most influential teams in football history and any team would be foolish to underestimate them.
